Parking Info:
The best parking for Lovetts Pool and Lookout would definitely be Elvina Trail parking located off West Head Rd. There’s is almost always a spot as this trail is not very well known. You may need to pay for entry into the national park but it should only be $12.

The Walk to the Aboriginal Rock Carvings:
The walk begins right at top of the carpark where you will spot a fire trail with a gate (left).

Roughly 100 metres down the fire trail (right) you will spot a small trail on the righthand side which after another 100 metres open out onto a flat rocky plane which seems like it never ends.

Here you will find lots of cool Aboriginal rock carvings. They are very hard to see in photos but in the pictures below there are a variety of animals carved for example an emu in the bottom photo. There is probably lots more in the area I wasn’t able to spot.

The walk to Lovetts Pool and Lookout:
To reach the wild pool and lookout walk back the way you came to the fire trail and continue along it. After about another 150 metres on the left hand-side you should reach another path which is covered in sandstone rocks.

This path turns into a dirt path after 10 – 15 metres then right after that turns very rocky for about 8 – 10 minutes. It then turns back into a dirt path for another 8 – 10 minutes where you will encounter a for in the road. Take the left exit and continue on for another 3 – 5 minutes where you will end up at Lovetts wild swimming pool.

The Walk to Lovetts Bay Lookout:
You will be able to the lookout from the falls but to get up close go back to the top of the falls and turn right (facing the lookout) and you should see some narrow natural rocky steps. If you take those steps down you should be able to walk right up to the lookout.

Swimming at Lovetts Pool:
Lovetts pool is usually very refreshing as it is constantly fed cold water through the waterfall. As for wildlife I have only ever spotted a few very small yabbies and some spiders which wouldn’t be nearly big enough to do damage to a human. As for the spiders I have seen a few bigger than a 50 cent coin but shouldn’t harm you if you steer clear of them.
